5th Edition of the Practical Course in Precision Agriculture
May 25 to 29, 2026
All day
Évora – Mitra Center of the University of Évora and Quinta das Glicínias (IEFP – Évora)
The 5th edition of the Practical Course in Precision Agriculture will take place from May 25 to 29, 2026, in Évora, with a total duration of 35 hours, providing technical and applied training in the main technologies used in precision agriculture.
The initiative results from a joint organization of MED – Mediterranean Institute for Agriculture, Environment and Development of the University of Évora, University of Algarve, IEFP – Institute for Employment and Professional Training (Regional Delegation of Alentejo – Employment and Professional Training Center of Évora), and Agroinsider.
With free participation and limited spots, the course is aimed at graduates and professionals interested in precision agriculture, technological innovation, and digitalization applied to the agricultural sector, emphasizing a practical approach based on the concept of "boots on the ground".
Over five days, participants will have direct contact with technologies and equipment used in precision agriculture, through theoretical sessions, technical demonstrations, and practical activities in a real context, distributed between the Mitra Campus of the University of Évora and Quinta das Glicínias (IEFP – Évora).
The program includes content related to:
-
item
-
Soil-water-plant relationships and precision agriculture;
-
Sensors and actuators applied to differentiated management;
-
Variable rate technology (VRT) and prescription maps;
-
Agricultural monitoring through satellites and vegetation indices;
-
Technological applications in precision livestock farming;
-
Drones applied to agriculture;
-
DGPS systems, ISOBUS, and automatic tractor steering.
The practical component is one of the main distinguishing elements of the training, allowing participants to experience technologies and equipment used in agricultural operations and decision-support technologies in a real context.
The training will feature the participation of teachers, researchers, and specialists with recognized experience in the fields of precision agriculture, agricultural mechanization, remote sensing, digital agriculture, precision livestock farming, and monitoring and decision support technologies.
The course will have a maximum of 20 participants and grants a qualification certificate from the National Qualifications Catalog issued by IEFP.
