Discover the story of one of England’s unlikeliest monarchs.

An exile and outsider with barely a claim to the throne, Henry Tudor’s victory over Richard III at Bosworth Field in 1485 surprised the nation and did little to suggest that he would end the Wars of the Roses.

Henry's violent usurpation of power heralded a reign steeped in plotting, suspicion, and tragedy as he faced countless threats to his rule. As his trusted allies perished, Henry became increasingly isolated and ruthless in his struggle to pass the crown to his heir.

Join The National Archives' Head of Collections, Sean Cunningham as he explores the life and reign of the first Tudor monarch and his consolidation of the Tudor dynasty.
